Six Ospreys Compete in Tufts Qualifying Meet

Medford, Mass. – Six Stockton University student-athletes traveled to New England in a last chance to move up the NCAA Division III performance list at the Tufts Qualifying Meet. The Ospreys competed in five events and broke two school records on the day.
 
The quartet of Amanda McNally (Tabernacle/Seneca), Kayla Sullivan (Manahawkin/Delaware Valley), Kayla Kass (Bayonne/Bayonne) and Maddy Valasek (Medford/Shawnee) broke the school mark from earlier this season in the distance medley relay by seven seconds with a time of 12:02.70. The DMR moved into 19th in the nation.
 
Elaina Styer (Estell Manor/Ocean City) shaved three hundredths of a second off the nine-year old school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.03 seconds. Styer qualified third out of seven in the prelims and elected not to run in the finals.
 
Ahmad Fogg (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) won the triple jump with a personal best of 14.31 meters that moved him into a tie for 25th in the nation. Fogg also finished third out of eight in the long jump (7.12m). In addition to her DMR leg, Kass placed fourth out of 14 runners in the 800m (2:13.69).
 
As of Saturday afternoon, Styer ranked fourth in the nation in the pentathlon and 25th in the high jump, Kass was 14th in the 800m, the women's DMR sat 19th and Fogg was 24th in the long jump plus tied for 25th in the triple jump. The NCAA Championships are March 14-15 at Nazareth University in Rochester, N.Y.
