Galloway, N.J. – Stockton freshman
Zemirah Enalls (Barnegat/Barnegat) was named NJAC Defensive Player of the Week in women's basketball for the week of December 29-January 4. Enalls collected the defensive award for the first time in her career after being chosen NJAC Rookie of the Week twice earlier this season.
Enalls continued her tremendous freshman year as she averaged 10.5 points per game on 60% (9-15) shooting while pulling down 30 rebounds (15.0 rpg) and blocking seven shots (3.5 bpg) in two games last week. Nineteen of her caroms came on the offensive glass.
Enalls began Stockton's two-game stint in Virginia with 11 rebounds and three blocks at Virginia Wesleyan on January 2. The next day, the freshman posted her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 19 rebounds plus four blocks against Christopher Newport.
Enalls tied the single game high for rebounds by an NJAC player this season, and 13 of the boards came on the offensive glass against the Captains.
For the season, the rookie is tied for the NJAC lead in offensive rebounds (5.1/game), second in rebounds (8.7 rpg) and fourth in blocked shots (1.4 bpg). Enalls leads Stockton in rebounds, blocks and field goal percentage (.636; 42-66) while averaging 9.6 points per game.
The Stockton women's basketball team (6-6, 3-2 NJAC) will have two conference matchups this week. The Ospreys will host Rutgers-Camden at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday before traveling to Montclair, N.J. on Saturday to take on Montclair State for a 3:00 p.m. tipoff.
