Lakewood, N.J. – Stockton University opened the 2026 season by winning the Pine Barrens Challenge, which was hosted by Georgian Court University at Ocean County Park.
The Ospreys topped a field of seven teams that included fellow NJAC members Rutgers-Camden and Rutgers-Newark plus four NCAA Division II squads. Stockton dominated the meet, with three of the first four finishers heading a group of six Ospreys in the top nine spots out of 53 runners overall.
Evelynn Austin (Sparta/Pope John XXIII) won the race by eight seconds with a time of 15:59.3 for four kilometers.
Sarah Rutledge (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) finished third at 16:14.1 followed by
Madison Pratt (Galloway/Absegami) in fourth place (16:28.3).
Paige McCabe (Moorestown/Moorestown) finished seventh (17:02.1) and
Grace Wojciechowski (Marlton/Cherokee) completed Stockton's top five in eighth place (17:02.1).
In addition to the five scoring runners,
Guinevere Kennedy (South Amboy) finished ninth (17:10.9),
Sophia Cornell (New Tripoli, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) placed 11th (17:30.5),
Bella Campiglia (Roxbury/Roxbury) was 13th (17:37.5).
Freshman
Shaelea Conway (Cherry Hill/East) was the top newcomer for the Ospreys in 15th place (18:03.6).
Stockton will run in the TCNJ Herb Lorenz Invitational next Friday, September 11 at 5:30 p.m.
