(Galloway, NJ) – Top-seeded Richard Stockton (17-3-3) advanced to the championship game of the ECAC Metro tournament with a 3-0 shutout of fifth-seeded Drew University (10-8-3) in a semifinal match.
Dailey Todd (Millville/Millville) scored a pair of goals and
Jacque Becker (Hamilton/Steinert) added one marker for the Ospreys.
Jess McQuillen (Tabernacle/Seneca) dished two assists in the victory.
Stockton wasted little time getting on the board as Becker scored the only goal of the first half 7:35 into the match.
Sara Shaughnessy (Farmingdale/Howell) served a free kick into the box where McQuillen flicked the ball toward the net and Becker roofed a shot from in close for her team-leading 12th goal of the season. The Ospreys outshot Drew 9-1 in the first half and led 1-0 at the break.
Todd clinched the win with two goals in a six-minute span late in the second half. McQuillen volleyed a pass that sent Todd in against Drew goalkeeper Kim Jaikissoon, and she booted a high shot into the net for a 2-0 Stockton lead at the 72:45 mark. Six minutes later,
Kiera Hines (Deptford/Deptford) fed Todd for a 15-yard shot into the lower right corner that was the senior's sixth tally of the season and closed out the 3-0 triumph for the Ospreys.
Stockton goalkeeper
Sarah Hinkle (Mullica Hill/Paul VI) made her only save late in the second half to collect her seventh shutout of the season. The Ospreys outshot Drew 15-3 in the game and Jaikissoon finished with five stops for the Rangers.
Stockton will play for its sixth ECAC Metro title tomorrow when the Ospreys host either No. 2 seed Kean or No. 3 Mount St. Mary (NY) at 1 pm.
