Stockton Blanks Elms 3-0

Boxscore

(Union, NJ) – Richard Stockton (2-0) cruised to a 3-0 victory over Elms College (MA) (0-2) in the Cougar Classic at Kean University for its second win in two days over a team that played in last year's NCAA Tournament.  Sophomore Lexi Stasi (Cranbury/Princeton) and freshman Danielle McKeown (West Deptford/West Deptford) each scored their first career goal while Jacque Becker (Hamilton/Steinert) added her second tally in as many days.

The Ospreys dominated the match, outshooting Elms 32-0 and attempting nine corner kicks while allowing just one.  McKeown opened the scoring with her first college goal at the 28:06 mark of her second game.  Jess McQuillen (Tabernacle/Seneca) assisted on the marker, which came off a corner kick and was the only goal of the first half.

Becker netted her second of the season at 58:01 as she knocked in the rebound of a shot by Rachel Sanford (South Brunswick/South Brunswick) who earned an assist on the play.  Stasi got to a loose ball after a shot by Anita Lato (Rockaway/Morris Hills) that was blocked, and she booted her first college goal at 74:11 to end the scoring in the 3-0 Stockton triumph.

Three Stockton goalkeepers shared the shutout without facing a shot.  Starter Sarah Hinkle (Mullica Hill/Paul VI) played the first 60 minutes followed by Brittney Boyle (Browns Mills/Pemberton) for the next 14 minutes and Cara Parliament (Manchester/Manchester Twp.) for the final 16 minutes.  For Elms, Alexa Rinaudo made 10 saves and Hayley Zisk added five stops.

Stockton will play its home opener on September 5 as the Ospreys host Salisbury at 7 pm.
