(Galloway, NJ) – Richard Stockton (6-2) ran their winning streak to six straight contests with a 3-0 victory over Centenary College (0-5-1). It was the fifth shutout win in the stretch. Freshman Laina Matus (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) and junior transfer Melissa Trafton (Mantua/Clearview) tallied their first career goals in a Stockton uniform.
The Ospreys posted two goals in the first 45 minutes of play with Leah Braidi (Vineland/Sacred Heart) garnering her second marker of the year. She potted a rebound off an Amanda Magana (Sicklerville/Timber Creek) shot for the 1-0 lead only 2:33 into the game. Just over seven minutes later, Matus scored her first collegiate goal, again off a Magana rebound, for the 2-0 lead that would last until the half.
Trafton then iced the game with her goal at the 87:52 mark for the 3-0 final score. Adrianna Boucher (Hamilton/Steinert) passed from the left wing and found Trafton who shot into the lower left corner for the tally.
Stockton goalkeeper Sarah Hinkle (Mullica Hill/Paul VI) picked up the win, playing the first 45 minutes. Cara Parliament (Manchester/Manchester Twp.) and Lauren Haynes (Williamstown/Williamstown) split playing time in the second half, with Haynes making the only save of the game to preserve the combined shutout. Megan Williams made eight saves in net for the Cyclones in taking the loss.
Stockton will open up the NJAC conference schedule on Saturday as they will travel to Kean for a 5 pm matchup.
