(Galloway, NJ) – Richard Stockton (4-2) used a dominating offense and stifling defense to blow past Centenary College (1-2) 14-2 on Wednesday night. Freshman goalkeeper
Eric Leonard (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) earned his fourth win in his rookie campaign but lost his bid for a shutout with just 1:18 remaining in the contest.
Stockton tallied three times in the opening period with
Nick Bologno (Glen Gardner/North Hunterdon) garnering two scores and
Guy Loggi (Somers Point/Mainland) getting the other marker for a 3-0 lead after one period. The Ospreys then unloaded for six more tallies in the second period for a comfortable 9-0 advantage at the break.
Vincent Manasia (Clark/Arthur L. Johnson) scored all three of his goals, with
Vinny Gencarelli (Rockaway/Morris Hills) dishing assists on two markers. Bologno,
Drew Wright (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) and
Cal Sebor (Freehold/Freehold Twp.) potted the other scores.
James O'Donnell (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) got into the act in the second half with three goals and an assist on a Gencarelli tally.
Tyler Van Benschoten finished up the goal onslaught with a marker from Bologno to give Stockton an insurmountable 14-0 lead with 7:45 to play. Two late scores by the Cyclones in the last 1:18 ruined Leonard's shutout bid and set the 14-2 final score.
Bologno, O'Donnell and Manasia all tallied three goals with Bologno dishing three assists and Gencarelli adding two more helpers. Leonard made nine saves in the victory.
Steve Orsini and Conor Martin tallied for the Cyclones. Centenary goalie Alex Malecki suffered the loss, playing the first half and kicking out 17 shots. Kevin Switzer made seven saves while playing the final 30 minutes in goal for the Cyclones
Stockton will take to the road to face off against Muhlenberg for a 2 pm game on Saturday afternoon.
