McKenna Ritchie (Newark, Del./Newark Charter School) was selected NJAC Defensive Player of the Week in volleyball for the week of October 23-29. Ritchie received the conference accolade for the second time this season.
Ritchie compiled 42 digs and averaged 4.20 digs per set in three matches during a 2-1 week for the Ospreys. In addition, the freshman dished six assists and was successful on 93.8 percent of her serve receptions (61-65).
Ritchie reached double figures in digs in all three matches. She started off with 19 digs in a 3-1 triumph over William Paterson then added 10 and 13 digs respectively against #10 NYU and Stevens to finish the week. Four of Ritchie's six assists for the week came in the sweep of Stevens.
For the season, Ritchie stands third in the NJAC in digs (4.26/set). She has hit double digits in 22 of the 27 matches that she has played, including five matches over 20 digs highlighted by a career-high 34 digs against Haverford on September 1. Ritchie also is third on the team with 32 aces.
Stockton Volleyball has three matches during the final week of the regular season, starting with their last NJAC match, on the road at Rutgers-Camden tomorrow night. The Ospreys will host Neumann University and Eastern University in a tri-match on Saturday to close out the 2023 regular season.
Stockton has already clinched the No. 1 seed for the NJAC Tournament, which will take place from November 7-11.
