Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University volleyball players
Nicole Palmer (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) and
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) were named AVCA All-America Honorable Mention by the
American Volleyball Coaches Association. The pair extended Stockton's streak to 15 straight seasons with at least one All-American.
Palmer collected an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention accolade for the third straight season and became the fourth Osprey with three All-American honors. Louer earned her second straight All-American award. Palmer and Louer sparked Stockton to a 22-9 record and a runner-up finish in the NJAC Tournament this fall.
Louer was an NJAC First Team and AVCA All-Region 4 First Team selection as well as the NJAC Player of the Week on November 3. The outside hitter finished third in the NJAC in kills (386; 3.75/set), fifth in points (433; 4.20/set) and sixth in hitting percentage (.285).
Louer led the Ospreys in kills, points and hitting percentage and also topped the squad with a 95.4% success rate on serve receptions while facing a team-high 476 attempts. The senior contributed 200 digs (1.94/set) and 37 blocks (0.36/set) on the defensive side while playing in all 31 matches and 103 of a possible 107 sets.
Louer reached double figures in kills in 21 of Stockton's 31 matches and hit double digits in digs eight times, with those totals overlapping for six double-doubles. She reached the 1,000-kill mark on October 2 and finished her career ninth in Stockton history with 1,219 kills in 120 matches as an Osprey.
Palmer received NJAC First Team and AVCA All-Region 4 First Team recognition plus the NJAC Player of the Week award on October 13. The right-side hitter finished ninth in the NJAC in points (293.5; 3.67/set) and 10th in kills (247; 3.09/set).
Despite missing eight matches due to injury, Palmer finished second on the team behind Louer in kills and points while adding 137 digs, 50 assists, 35 blocks, 27 aces and a .232 hitting percentage. In 23 matches played, she reached double digits in kills 14 times and in digs five times.
