Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University hosted the two-day Osprey Open at G. Larry James Stadium and won 14 events. The Ospreys took first place in nine women's events and five men's events at the meet.
Freshmen
Kayla Kass (Bayonne/County Prep) and
Emma Petrolia (New Milford/New Milford) won the 800m (2:19.58) and 400m hurdles (1:06.63) respectively. Kass and Petrolia joined fellow rookie
Emma Conroy (Matawan/Matawan) and
Lauren Maldonado (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) to win the 4x400 relay (4:12.73).
Ashanae Morrison (East Brunswick/East Brunswick) won the 100m (12.55 seconds) and teamed with Conroy,
Khristina Washington (Hammonton/Hammonton) and
Kaylee Apple (West Long Branch/St. Rose) for a victory in the 4x100 relay (50.31 seconds).
Shahyan Abraham (Orange/Orange) led the way in the field events as she broke her own school record and won the shot put (13.57m) to go with second place in the hammer throw (47.28m).
Freshman
Megan Campanile (Manahawkin/Southern) won the javelin with a new personal best (38.77m) and
Michaela Pomatto (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) captured the discus (38.66m).
Susann Foley (Tabernacle/Seneca) tied for first in the high jump (1.57m).
Carson Latham (Bordentown/Bordentown) had a strong meet for the Stockton men's team with a win in the 200m (22.08 seconds) and second place in the 100m (10.96 seconds). The Ospreys had the top two finishers in the 1500m as
Cooper Knorr (Manalapan/Manalapan) won (3:59.49) and
Erik Ackerman (Long Valley/West Morris Central) finished second (4:03.73).
Brandon Shymanski (Brick/Brick Memorial) crossed the finish line first in the 5000m (15:45.15) and an Osprey foursome also won the 4x400 relay (3:32.75). The winning squad was
Ryan Fisher (Barnegat/Barnegat),
Ian Adjangba (Howell/Howell),
Joseph deBeaumont (Blackwood/Highland) and
Davis Wittenburg (Monmouth Junction/South Brunswick).
Anthony Gentile (North Cape May/Lower Cape May) finished second in the 200m (52.33 seconds) and joined Latham, Fisher and
Dontay Turner (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) for second place in the 4x100 relay (43.25 seconds).
Freshman
Connor Wright (Sicklerville/Hammonton) tied for first in the high jump (1.81m).
Next weekend, Stockton will compete in the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton University and the Bill Butler Invitational at West Chester University.
