Galloway, N.J. – Three Stockton University cross country runners, one male and two females, qualified for USTFCCCA All-Region honors from the
United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Erik Ackerman (Long Valley/West Morris Central) claimed All-Region recognition in men's cross country for the third straight year.
Kayla Kass (Bayonne/Bayonne) earned All-Region recognition in women's cross country for the third consecutive year and
Amanda McNally (Tabernacle/Seneca) collected an All-Region nod for the second year in a row.
All-Region status went to the top 35 finishers at the NCAA Metro Regionals, which Stockton hosted for the first time ever on Saturday. The Stockton men produced their best finish ever at regionals, sixth place, while the Osprey women's team also finished sixth.
Ackerman qualified for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships for the second straight year, joining Randy Wetzel (2002, 2000) and Abad Akhtar (2009-10) as Stockton's only two-time NCAA qualifiers in men's cross country. Ackerman will run in the NCAA Championships at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana this Saturday at noon.
Ackerman finished 10th out of 186 runners at regionals with a time of 25:07.1 that was his second fastest in 19 career eight-kilometer races. The senior placed in the top 10 at the NCAA Regionals for the second consecutive year. He produced the best finish ever by a Stockton male with sixth place in 2023.
Ackerman earned an NJAC First Team accolade two weeks ago with a runner-up finish at the NJAC Championships. In addition to his three All-Region honors, Ackerman collected three NJAC All-Conference nods (2023-24 First Team, 2022 Second Team) in his career.
Kass notched her third All-Region spot by finishing a team-best 22nd out of 182 runners in the women's race with a 6K time of 23:19.8 that was her second fastest of the season. Kass qualified for NJAC Second Team status two weeks ago and is now a three-time All-Region and three-time NJAC All-Conference runner (2024 Second Team, 2022-23 First Team).
McNally ran her second fastest time of the year and third best in 21 career 6K races, 23:29.2, for 30th place at the NCAA Regionals. In her first season at Stockton, the fifth-year runner moved up two spots from last year when she finished 32nd while competing for Rowan University. McNally earned an NJAC Second Team nod two weeks ago for her first career all-conference recognition.
