Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University field hockey players received one NJAC award and five all-conference honors for the 2025 season. Senior
Carlee Thompson (Gibbsboro/Eastern) was voted NJAC Midfielder of the Year and NJAC First Team to headline the group.
Senior
Kirsten Bailey (Burlington/Burlington Twp.) and junior
Maura Somers (Berlin/Eastern Regional) joined Thompson on the NJAC First Team.
Riley DeMarco (Hammonton/Cedar Creek) and
Makayla Alessi (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) were NJAC Honorable Mention selections.
The five Ospreys led the team to an 11-9 record and the No. 3 seed for the NJAC Tournament. Bailey and Thompson received all-conference honors for the third time in their careers while Somers, DeMarco and Alessi were all first-time honorees.
Thompson became the first Stockton player ever to be chosen NJAC Midfielder of the Year as well as a three-time NJAC First Team selection. She capped her stellar career with an outstanding senior campaign. Starting all 20 games, Thompson led the Ospreys with 12 goals and 32 points while also tying for the team lead with eight assists.
Thompson finished the season second in the NJAC in game-winning goals (4), tied for second in assists plus fourth in goals and points. She recorded at least one point in 11 of Stockton's 20 games.
Bailey also concluded her career with an excellent senior season, for which she collected her third NJAC First Team accolade. She tied Thompson for the team lead with eight assists, led the team with five defensive saves and finished second on the squad in goals (9) and points (26).
Bailey ended the year tied for second in the conference in assists, tied for fourth in defensive saves, sixth in goals and tied for eighth in points. She started all 20 games and registered a point in 10 of them.
Somers was a key addition in her first season at Stockton after transferring from Fairfield. The midfielder scored two goals with four assists for eight points while starting all 20 games. Somers tied with DeMarco for third on the team in assists. She tallied her first career point with an assist against Salisbury on August 31, then scored her first career goal against Washington College on September 17.
DeMarco had a breakout season, starting all 18 games in which she played. The junior tallied eight goals, which is 10th in the NJAC. The forward also tied with Somers for third on the team with four assists and finished fourth on the squad with 20 points. DeMarco tallied a hat trick and one assist for seven points against Marywood on October 14.
Alessi helped Stockton post five shutouts with her defensive play and also contributed offensively as a key cog in the team's penalty corner sets. The senior scored five goals and dealt one assist for 11 points. Alessi recorded seven points during a five-game span from September 27 through October 11.
