2025 Stockton Field Hockey Recap

Overview
Stockton Field Hockey posted 11 victories on the 2025 season and reached double figures for the third straight year and sixth time in nine full seasons under head coach Sarah Elleman. The Ospreys also reached the NJAC Tournament for the third consecutive year.
 
Stockton benefitted from lineup stability, with 15 players seeing action in at least 16 games including 10 who played in all 20 contests. Seven of those players started all 20 games. The team set school records for goals (60) and points (158) in a season and tied the program mark of 38 assists.

Highlights
  • Carlee Thompson made history by becoming Stockton's second All-American and first NJAC Midfielder of the Year. Thompson led the Ospreys in goals (12), points (32) and game-winning goals (4), and she also tied Kirsten Bailey for the team lead in assists (8).
  • Thompson's 32 points were the fourth highest total in program history. The midfielder finished second in the NJAC in game-winning goals and tied for second in assists plus fourth in goals and points.
  • Despite playing just three seasons at Stockton after transferring from Montclair State, Thompson set a school record with 27 career assists and finished her career third in school history in points (75) as well as tied for sixth in goals (24).
  • Kirsten Bailey topped the Ospreys with five defensive saves, tied Thompson for the team lead in assists (8) and finished second on the squad in goals (9) and points (26). Bailey's five defensive saves equaled the fourth highest season total ever at Stockton.
  • Bailey tied for second in the NJAC in assists and tied for fourth in defensive saves along with finishing sixth in points and tied for eighth in goals. She ended her stellar four-year career at Stockton with rankings of second in program history in goals (40) and points (94), third in defensive saves (10) and eighth in assists (14).
  • Maura Somers made a big impact in her first season at Stockton, joining Thompson and Bailey to comprise a formidable midfield trio. The junior was selected NJAC First Team after tallying two goals and four assists for eight points. Somers tied for third on the team in assists and also contributed with her strong stickhandling and ball skills.
  • Brooke Ruiz tied Bailey with nine goals and dished three assists for 21 points in her first year at Stockton. Ruiz tied for eighth in the NJAC in goals and finished eighth in points. She lifted Stockton to a dramatic 3-2 triumph over Scranton by scoring the deciding goal in the ninth round of the shootout.
  • Riley DeMarco broke out offensively, more than tripling her point total from the previous year by totaling eight goals and four assists for 20 points. DeMarco made it four Ospreys among the NJAC scoring leaders by tying for ninth in the conference in points and finishing 10th in goals
  • Jessica Bruther added to the firepower with six goals and 15 points in her first season at Stockton after joining the team as a transfer.
  • Makayla Alessi once again contributed at both ends of the field. In addition to her reliable defensive play and one defensive save, Alessi contributed offensively on penalty corners, tallying five goals and an assist for 11 points.
  • Erika Roura produced a strong season in which she played every minute in goal. The senior netminder posted five shutouts for the second straight season, which was second in the NJAC, to go with a 1.97 goals against average (T-3rd in NJAC) and 99 saves.
  • Roura moved into second in Stockton history in career goals against average (1.92), tied for second in shutouts (10), third in save percentage (.742) and sixth in saves (216).
  • Seniors EB Rafferty and Miana Alessandroni and freshmen Meghan Phillips and Melany Mosier each played in all 20 games. Rafferty started all 20 contests and notched one defensive save while Mosier and Alessandroni made 19 and 18 starts respectively.
  • Olivia Catalano tallied two goals and an assist for five points in 19 games played. Kylee Donegan also saw action in 19 matches and recorded one goal and one assist for three points. Freshman Mia Collins scored twice and fellow rookie Leah Bruchansky potted two goals as well.
