Rochester, N.Y. – Stockton University junior 
Kayla Kass (Bayonne/Bayonne) earned a spot in the final of the 800-meter run with her performance in the preliminaries on the first day of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. The national meet is taking place at Nazareth University.
 
Kass qualified for the NCAA 800m final for the second consecutive year by finishing second in her heat with a time of 2:11.05 that was just three hundredths of a second off her school record from last year. The junior posted the eighth fastest time out of 20 runners in three heats overall.
 
Kass earned her spot in the NCAA final with a strong kick. She ran the final 200 meters in 32.78 seconds, which was the second fastest out of all 20 competitors in the event.
 
Kass will compete in the 800m final tomorrow at 5:05 p.m. She is poised to become an All-American for the third time in her career (2024 First Team in indoor 800m, 2024 Second Team in outdoor 800m).
