2025 Stockton Women’s Lacrosse Season Recap

Overview
Stockton Women's Lacrosse went 11-6 in 2025, reaching double digits in wins for the third consecutive season under head coach Denise Roessler. The campaign featured winning streaks of five and four games. Four of Stockton's six defeats came against teams that advanced to at least the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
Stability and depth were keys to success for the Ospreys. Ten players started at least 15 of Stockton's 17 games and an additional five played in at least 15 games. Both upperclassmen and underclassmen contributed on the field for the balanced squad.
 
Stockton finished second in the NJAC in assists per game (7.81), points per game (21.50), ground balls per game (20.13) and goals against average (8.25). The Ospreys set school records for assists (131) and points (354) in a season and tied the mark for most points in a game (35). Five individual single game records also fell this year.

Highlights
  • Gina Marotta had a tremendous junior year, tying the school record for draw controls with 74 while adding 49 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers. Marotta also broke the school marks for ground balls in a game with 10 against Marywood on March 10 and caused turnovers in a game with 13 against Drew two days later on March 12.
  • Marotta tied for fourth in the NJAC in ground balls per game (3.00) and finished fifth in draw controls per game (4.44). She led the Ospreys in draw controls and ground balls and finished second in caused turnovers.
  • Meghan Pellegrino teamed with Marotta to form an outstanding duo on the backline. The fifth-year was third in the NJAC in caused turnovers per game (2.23) and seventh in ground balls per game (2.62). Pellegrino finished her career as the Stockton program leader in ground balls (177) and caused turnovers (118).
  • Lilly Alessandro capped her career with her first all-conference honor after totaling 54 draw controls, 37 ground balls, 21 caused turnovers and five goals. Alessandro finished 10th in the NJAC in draw controls per game (3.25). She moved up the Stockton career list with 132 draw controls (3rd all-time), 124 ground balls (2nd) and 56 caused turnovers (T-6th).
  • Madison MacGillivray led the offense with 45 goals in her sophomore campaign. MacGillivray dished 13 assists for 58 points and snagged 43 draw controls. She finished fourth in the league in goals per game (2.93) and nine in points per game (3.80 ppg). MacGillivray scored at least three goals in eight of her 16 games played.
  • Isabella Marinello was one behind MacGillivray with 44 goals plus 20 assists for 64 points, with all three totals ranking second on the team. Marinello placed seventh in the NJAC in goals per game (2.63) and eighth in points per game (3.83 ppg).
  • Marinello set school records with eight goals and 10 points against Drew on March 12. She moved into third in program history with 95 goals and 142 points as well as fourth with 47 assists.
  • Julia Gibson had a big impact in her first year at Stockton. Gibson led the team in assists (27) and points (66) while scoring 39 goals (3rd on team). The junior ranked sixth in the NJAC in assists per game (1.63) and seventh in points per game (3.94). Gibson tallied at least three points in 13 of her 17 games played.
  • Margot Costello added to the offensive firepower with 30 goals and 14 assists for 44 points in her senior year. Costello also scooped 42 ground balls and caused 24 turnovers. She finished sixth in the NJAC in ground ball per game (2.63). Costello set a school record with eight caused turnovers against Ramapo on April 28.
  • Emily Deworsop chipped in at the defensive end in her senior season, starting all 17 games and registering 25 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers (3rd on team). Billie Ormsby led all Stockton freshmen with 15 starts and totaled 24 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. Deworsop and Ormsby also scored two goals apiece.
  • Jordan Czaczkowski, in her first year as the starting goalkeeper, recorded 91 saves and a 9.29 goals against average that ranked second in the NJAC while playing 910:52 of a possible 1,020 minutes. The sophomore kicked out 11 shots against Muhlenberg on March 18 for a career high and her first game with a double-digit save total.
  • Stockton received offensive contributions from Charlotte Ondria (14 G, 12 A), Brianna Robinson (14 G, 14 GB), Ashley Pringle (13 G, 14 A) and Shyanne Nucifora (5 G, 17 A), all of whom played in 15 games or more, with Robinson and Pringle making 15 and 12 starts respectively.
  • Freshman Kayla Dever played all 17 games with four starts and finished her rookie year with 15 ground balls, eight caused turnovers, five goals, three assists and four draw controls. Fellow rookie Caroline Mueller notched seven goals and two assists for nine points in 15 games off the bench.
