2026 Stockton Softball Recap

Overview
Stockton Softball produced a historic 2026 season, winning the NJAC regular season title, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament and entering the NFCA national rankings all for the first time ever. The Ospreys won 30 games for the third time in the program's history and finished with a 30-9 record.
 
Head coach Mavreen Hering blended a nucleus of veterans with contributions from a number of freshmen and sophomores. The lineup remained relatively stable, with four players starting every game and two more making at least 34 starts. The Ospreys raced out to a dominant 21-2 record in the first 23 games and peaked at #15 in the national rankings.
 
The squad set new team records for batting average (.344) and stolen bases (94). The Ospreys led the NJAC in batting, slugging percentage (.462), runs per game (6.38), hit by pitch (31) and fielding percentage (.975). Stockton also was second in the league in home runs (16) and RBI (220).

Highlights
  • Alexa Panagopoylos became the program's first NJAC Player of the Year and second All-American. Panagopoylos finished fourth in the NJAC with 15 doubles, which tied the school record. The junior batted .368 and tied for the team lead with 46 hits to go along with 28 RBI and 13 runs.
  • Panagopoylos recorded at least one hit in 28 of her 39 games played, highlighted by a 15-game hitting streak from March 13-31. She rapped five hits against Rutgers-Newark on April 24, which was the most in a single game in the NJAC this season.
  • Freshman Emily Clauss played in 37 games with 36 starts at shortstop. Clauss batted .297 with 25 RBI, 16 runs and three homers on the way to the NJAC Rookie of the Year honor. Clauss had a career-best seven RBI against Rutgers-Newark on April 24 that was the most in a single game in the NJAC this year.
  • Fellow rookie Camryn Harry was a finalist for the NFCA Division III Freshman of the Year award. Harry started all 39 games and batted .345 with 40 hits, 36 RBI, 22 runs, 13 doubles and three home runs. The rookie tied for the team lead and fifth in the NJAC in RBI and finished second on the squad plus tied for fifth in the league in doubles.
  • Defensively, Harry did not make an error in 224 chances at first base, finishing second in the NJAC in putouts (207) and tying for second in total chances.
  • Emma Coldsnow became the program's fourth Academic All-American. Coldsnow started all 39 games, led the NJAC in on-base percentage (.537) and finished second in OPS (1.103) and hit by pitch (11), tied for seventh in home runs (4) and eighth in batting average (.415) and slugging percentage (.566).
  • Coldsnow compiled a team-best 24-game reached base streak during the season. The senior ended her career third in Stockton history with a .395 average and tied for eighth with 12 home runs. She started all 80 games that she played in her two seasons at Stockton.
  • Caitlin Cetrulo started all 39 games in left field and batted .350 with 41 hits. The senior tied for the team lead in home runs (4) and RBI (36) while finishing second on the Ospreys in runs (33) and slugging percentage (.564). Cetrulo tied for fifth in the NJAC in RBI, tied for seventh in homers and was eighth in runs and 10th in slugging percentage.
  • Cetrulo finished with a career .347 batting average and 117 hits as well as ranking ninth in Stockton history in runs (83) and tied for 10th in home runs (10) and RBI (76). She started all 117 games that she played over the last three years.
  • McKenna George started all 34 games that she played. The centerfielder finished third in the NJAC in stolen bases (32), tied for fourth in runs (37) and tied for sixth in batting average (.418) while leading the Ospreys in all three. George tied for the team lead with 46 hits and ranked second on the squad in on-base percentage (.484).
  • Evangelina Kim had a breakout sophomore season, batting .326 in 32 games with 23 starts. Kim committed just two errors in 88 chances while playing mostly at second base for a .978 fielding percentage. She also scored 17 runs and swiped 12 bases.
  • Freshman Cassie Stallwood played in 36 games with 22 starts in the outfield. Stallwood batted .360 and had a hit in 17 of the last 18 games in her rookie season, highlighted by a 16-game hitting streak that was the longest by a Stockton player since 2017.
  • Madison Manera played in 29 games including 25 starts at catcher. In 120 defensive chances, the senior did not make an error behind the plate for her second straight season with a 1.000 fielding percentage.
  • Lexi Liquori pitched a team-high 96.2 innings in 23 appearances. Liquori tied for the NJAC lead with two saves and finished sixth in wins (11), eighth in opposing batting average (.226) and ninth in ERA (2.32). The junior fanned 64 batters as well.
  • Casey Sokol won nine games with a 2.89 ERA and finished ninth in the NJAC with a team-high 81 strikeouts as well as tied for the league lead with two saves. Sokol pitched a five-inning no-hitter against Rutgers-Newark on April 24. The sophomore also was a threat at the plate, batting .343 with 24 hits and 15 RBI in 70 at-bats.
  • Elizabeth Martin was the third member of the staff with at least 22 appearances in the circle. She posted 10 wins, a 2.84 ERA, 46 strikeouts and one save in 74.0 innings pitched. Martin started strong, collecting wins in her first four appearances of the season.
  • The Ospreys received valuable contributions from Regan Mendick (.303, 14 RBI), Aubrey Jeffers (.302, 16 hits), Sienna Smith (15 steals, 10 runs), Caitlin Lynch (20 runs, 5 steals) and Maggie Formichelli (14 runs, 7 steals), all of whom played in at least 29 games.
