(Galloway, NJ) – Richard Stockton (4-9, 0-3 NJAC) picked up their second straight win as they defeated DeSales University (3-9) 3-1 on Thursday evening. The Ospreys posted back-to-back wins for the first time this season and sent the Bulldogs to their seventh consecutive defeat.
Stockton wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as
Jenny Carpenter (Egg Harbor City/Absegami) had a shot deflected but
Brittany Iveson (Barnegat/Barnegat) gathered a loose ball in front of the DeSales net and poked home her fifth goal of the season just 1:15 into the contest. The Ospreys controlled play in the first period as they outshot the Bulldogs 10-5 and the half ended with Stockton ahead 1-0.
Only 3:07 into the second half, Meryah Harding tied the game with a deflection from a Sam Lavin pass. Stockton then regained control five minutes later as
Susie Balidemaj (Hamilton Twp./Steinert) tipped in an
Alison Paulus (Westhampton/Rancocas Valley) shot for her team-leading 10th tally of the season to give the Ospreys a 2-1 advantage.
Just over eight minutes after that,
Megan Irving (Oaklyn/Collingswood) provided the insurance score with a shovel shot into the net for her third of the season and the 3-1 final score.
Alicia Leadbeater (Franklinville/Delsea) picked up her team-high sixth assist of the year on the goal.
Stockton goalkeeper
Sara Winters (Blackwood/Triton) earned the win as she kicked out four shots for the Ospreys. Victoria DelToro made 11 saves in a busy night but suffered the defeat for DeSales.
Stockton starts a three-game road trip with an NJAC matchup at Kean University on Saturday at 1pm. DeSales returns home for a Saturday game against Manhattanville at 2:30 pm.
