(Galloway, NJ) – Richard Stockton (0-2) tried to rebound from their first loss of the season but dropped their home opener 4-2 to FDU-Florham (2-0). It was the second straight loss for the Ospreys who have scored two goals in each of their contests.
Susie Balidemaj (Hamilton/Steinert) led the Stockton offense with a goal and an assist.
Lanie Andrews (Sayreville/Sayreville) opened the scoring for the Devils on a pass from Kelsey Kistle (Sandyston/Kittatinny) to make it 1-0 but the Ospreys evened the contest just 1:47 later on a
Jenny Carpenter (Egg Harbor/Absegami) score. assisted by Balidemaj. FDU-Florham then took control of the game on goals by Gabby D'Amico (Mullica Hill/Clearview) and Andrews to make it 3-1 at the break.
In the second half, the Devils added another tally by Alicia Grotyohann (Lafayette/Newton) before Balidemaj finished the scoring with an unassisted goal with just 1:42 left to set the final score. Andrews had the helper on Grotyohann's goal. Andrews finished with two goals and two assists for the Devils.
FDU-Florham goalkeeper Tess Loughran (Newton/Newton) played the first 52 minutes, made eight saves and picked up the win. Amy Defnet (Poolesville, MD/Poolesville) and Jamie Unkel (Sayreville/Sayreville) finished up for the Devils with Defnet kicking out two shots.
For the Ospreys,
Sara Winters (Blackwood/Triton) manned the net for the first 53 minutes and suffered the loss. She made six saves.
Liz Stankiewicz (Freehold Twp. /Freehold Twp.) finished up, kicking out two shots.
Stockton returns to the home turf on Thursday to take on Swarthmore at 4 pm. The Devils will have their home opener against defending NCAA champion College of New Jersey next Saturday at 1 pm.
