Stockton Falls to Arcadia on Late Goal


(Galloway, NJ) – For the second straight year, Arcadia University (1-0) defeated Richard Stockton (0-1) by a 3-2 final score in the season opener. This time a goal by the Knights' Molly Goldstein with 21.6 seconds remaining was the difference in the contest. The result snapped a three-game winning streak for Stockton dating back to last season.

Susie Balidemaj (Hamilton/Steinert) opened the scoring for the Ospreys with her first tally of the season just 3:45 into the game. Brittany Iveson (Barnegat/Barnegat) picked up the assist. Erin MIsner tied the contest on a pass from Goldstein just over three minutes later and the game was knotted 1-1 at the break.

Katrina Dull gave the Knights a 2-1 lead on a helper from Debbie Wolfe at the 47:32 mark before Megan Irving (Oaklyn/Collingswood) tied it at 2-2 on an unassisted goal just 3:12 later. The game remained that way until Goldstein's tally in the closing seconds sent the Ospreys to the 3-2 defeat.

Stockton goalkeeper Liz Stankiewicz (Freehold Twp. /Freehold Twp.) suffered the loss, kicking out three shots. Arcadia freshman goalie Brittany Hodson picked up her first collegiate victory by making six saves.

The Ospreys will travel to Swarthmore on Thursday September 5 for a 4 pm match for their next contest. Arcadia will play their second of three road games to start the season when the take on Delaware Valley on Wednesday at 4 pm.
