Stockton Win Streak Snapped by #12 TCNJ

(Galloway, NJ) - Richard Stockton (4-2, 0-1 NJAC) saw their four-game winning streak stopped by The College of New Jersey (4-1, 1-0 NJAC) 3-0 on Tuesday night. The Lions are ranked #12 nationally by the NFHCA.

After a scoreless first 29 minutes, the Lions struck quickly for two goals. Victoria Martin took a shot that eluded Stockton netminder Liz Stankiewicz (Freehold Twp. /Freehold Twp.) for a 1-0 lead. Just 30 seconds later, Lexi Smith beat Sara Winters (Blackwood/Triton) on a penalty stroke to give TCNJ a 2-0 lead that would last until the break.

The Lions struck again at the 55:04 mark as Lindsay Hatch tallied on a Smith assist to give the Lions a 3-0 lead they would not relinquish. The goal came after a penalty corner.

Stockton had their best chance to break into the scoring column but Susie Balidemaj (Hamilton/Steinert) was unsuccessful on a penalty shot with 11 minutes to play and the Ospreys would get no closer. Balidemaj also had a good chance on a deflection a minute earlier but TCNJ goalie Amanda Krause made a kick save.

Stankiewicz made two saves in suffering the loss. Krause kicked out six shots for her first solo shutout of the season for the Lions in net.

Stockton will play the first of three consecutive road contests as they face Haverford on Saturday at 1 pm. TCNJ returns home for the first of three straight home games as they will take on Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday. Game time is 1 pm.
