Dover, DE – Richard Stockton (3-2) came up short 5-4 at Wesley (5-1) in a wild game that featured four ties and three lead changes. Cassie Kirk (Middletown/Middletown South), Samantha Barcia (Berlin/Eastern) and freshman Alexa Massa (Moorestown/Moorestown) paced the Ospreys with a goal and an assist apiece. The teams each registered 24 shots and Stockton goalkeeper Liz Stankiewicz (Freehold/Freehold Twp.) finished with seven saves.

Wesley took the early lead just 2:32 into the game on the first of three goals by Lauren Mears. Massa scored her first career goal at 17:22, deflecting home a shot by Kirk for a 1-1 tie. Kirk connected for her first tally of the season with an assist by Barcia eight minutes later to put Stockton on top 2-1, which was the score at halftime.

Wesley quickly regained the lead with two markers by Mears in the first 3:05 of the second half to pull ahead 3-2 before Barcia converted a penalty stroke at 43:38 for her team-leading ninth goal of the season. Barcia has scored in all five games for the Ospreys so far. Six minutes later, Wesley's Morgan Gannon found the net off a scrum in front to put Stockton down 4-3 with 20:12 to play in regulation.

The Ospreys broke through for the tying goal with just 4:36 on the clock as Rileigh Ruff (Delran/Delran) netted her first counter of the year with an assist by Massa to make it a 4-4 game. Neither team attempted a shot during the rest of regulation and the contest went to overtime. With 4:20 gone in OT, Gracie Daniels potted the game-winner for Wesley on a breakaway to deal Stockton the 5-4 defeat.

Stockton will have a week off before beginning NJAC play with a home game against William Paterson next Saturday, September 20 at 1 pm.
