The 1995-96 Men’s Basketball Team finished the season at 26-4, setting a school record for wins that lasted until 2009 and now stands as the program’s second-highest total ever. The Ospreys finished first in the NJAC regular season standings and won the NJAC Tournament.

The squad reached a national ranking as high as #4 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Stockton split four meetings with Rowan University, which won the national championship that year.

The Ospreys were led that season by Hall of Famers Carl Cochran and Marty Small. Cochran averaged 22.6 points per game and topped the squad with a .845 free throw percentage and a school-record 100 three-pointers. Small averaged 13.6 points per game and was the team’s top rebounder at 8.9 boards per game.

Donald Polk (14.8 ppg, 52 3FG) and Eric Magazine (12.7 ppg, 51 3FG) were the other top scorers that year. Combined, the Ospreys shot a robust .403 (219-544) from behind the arc.
