Gerry Matthews is the winningest coach in New Jersey men’s college basketball history with a record of 603-243 in 30 years as head coach of the Ospreys. He ranks 18th in NCAA Division III history in winning percentage (.713) and was just the 16th coach in Division III to reach the 600-win mark. 

Matthews’ teams earned 16 NCAA Tournament berths, advancing to the Final Four in 1987 and 2009. The 2009 squad finished as the national runner-up and set a school record with 30 wins. Matthews won 20 or more games 18 times, captured nine NJAC championships and was chosen NJAC Coach of the Year nine times.
